After working as a nurse for many years and witnessing firsthand the profound impact grief can have on individuals, I felt a deep calling to help those who are suffering. I wanted to equip people with the tools and support they need on their healing journey. Last year, I completed my Master’s in Counseling at Liberty University. After graduating, I set my sights on becoming a certified grief coach. During my search for the right training program, I came across Terri’s website. After speaking with her, I was incredibly impressed, but I’ll admit, I was still a bit hesitant. It's only natural—I had spent the past several years pursuing my degree and wanted to ensure I was making the right choice. I’m so grateful I took the plunge. Terri’s class gave me powerful insights and practical tools that will stay with me for a lifetime. Her lessons were clear, well-structured, and deeply impactful. Despite earning a degree, I truly didn’t feel ready to fully support clients in their grief until I took her course. Now, I feel confident, equipped, and inspired. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
As a Death Doula I wanted to become a certified grief coach to support my clients and their families. I found this program incredibly insightful and felt like I learned a lot about how to support those experiencing all different types of grief and how to meet people where they are in their process.

When you earn your credential through Healing Hearts, you're not just getting a certificate — you're receiving internationally recognized accreditation from the CTAA (Complementary Therapists Accredited Association), one of the world's leading accrediting bodies for holistic and integrative practitioners.
That means your credential is verified, respected, and professionally meaningful — whether you're working with individual clients, healthcare organizations, hospices, faith communities, or building your own practice from the ground up.
Terri Chaplin brings warmth, wisdom, and years of experience to this transformational work. As an accredited grief companion and educator, certified in advanced grief support and heart focused techniques, she has gently walked alongside hundreds of people in the depths of grief, helping them reconnect with their strength and sense of balance through understanding, compassion, and lived experience.
Her calling was born from personal loss and experiences that revealed how deeply funeral service and grief care need more humanity, presence, and heart. After the deaths of her first husband and her son, Terri witnessed how easily the sacredness of grief can be lost in transactional systems. Those moments became the spark that guides her mission today: to help families, funeral professionals, and communities bring compassion back to the center of care.
Terri’s work is about holding space gently and patiently, without judgment. She witnesses grief in all its rawness and stays present with it, honoring each person’s pain as sacred and deeply personal. Her methods are grounded in deep listening and simple, meaningful tools that meet each person right where they are, creating room for healing to unfold naturally.
This FAQ section is designed to give you clarity and confidence by answering the most common questions about the program—from what you'll learn and the support you'll receive to how this certification can elevate your coaching practice.
This program is for anyone who feels called to support people through grief, whether that calling comes from personal experience with loss, a professional role that brings you close to it, or simply a deep knowing that this is the work you're meant to do. Our graduates include nurses, death doulas, end-of-life caregivers, chaplains, funeral professionals, counselors, coaches, social workers, and people who experienced profound loss themselves and found purpose in helping others heal. If you feel drawn to this work, you belong here.
None. There are no prerequisites, no prior certifications required, and no clinical background needed to enroll. Grief coaching is a distinct specialty that is separate from therapy and does not require a state license to practice. What matters most is a genuine heart for supporting people through loss and a commitment to doing this work with compassion and integrity. Everything else, I will teach you.
This program was built from both lived experience and professional expertise. After losing my first husband and my son, I navigated grief inside systems that lacked the humanity this work deserves, and I created Healing Hearts to change that. Every module is grounded in evidence-informed practice and shaped by years of walking alongside grieving people in the real world. You will not find a program more deeply rooted in both the heart and the craft of grief support. And because it is globally accredited through the CTAA, the credential you earn carries real professional weight.d and Legacy tiers
Yes. Graduates in the Guided and Legacy tiers receive ongoing access to our private community of certified coaches and facilitators, a space to ask questions, share experiences, and continue growing long after you complete the coursework. Legacy graduates also receive a Business Toolkit for Coaches to help you build and grow your practice with confidence. And I remain present in this community because I believe the support you receive after certification matters just as much as the training itself.
Because the program is fully self-paced, the timeline is entirely yours to set. Some students move through the coursework in a few focused weeks, while others prefer to take several months to absorb the material deeply alongside busy work and family schedules. There is no deadline and no pressure, you move at the pace that serves you best.
The coursework is fully self-paced, meaning you complete the 43 lessons across five modules on your own schedule with no live session requirements. Students in the Guided and Legacy tiers also receive personal mentorship sessions with a program facilitator, which are scheduled at a time that works for you. This structure gives you the flexibility to learn on your terms while still having access to real human support when it counts most.
The possibilities are broad and growing. Many graduates launch private grief coaching practices, while others add grief specialization to existing roles in nursing, counseling, end-of-life care, chaplaincy, social work, or coaching. Some work with hospices, hospitals, funeral homes, faith communities, corporate organizations, or nonprofits. Others support individuals and families one-on-one. The need for trained grief companions exists everywhere, and this certification gives you the tools and the credentials to meet that need with confidence.
